Why are PC sales declining?

Its a hot topic:  PC sales have fallen 14 percent worldwide in the last quarter.  Is the PC computer dead?  And if so, why? Will Oremus at Slate.com thinks the reason sales of PCs are tanking may be because…they’ve gotten too good.  I tend to agree: http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2013/04/12/why_pc_sales_are_declining_old_pcs_still_work_just_fine.html Back when PCs first appeared, there was a … Continue reading Why are PC sales declining?

What will become of the movie industry…?

Stumbled upon this rather grim article written by Tony Maglio and presented on indiewire.com… Warner Bros Discover lost 2.4 Billion and Lionsgate lost 1.8 Billion and its not even dinnertime The article rightfully wonders how film studios can survive with such staggering losses and, frankly, I wonder the same. When Amazon announced their latest gadget, the Amazon Echo a while back, I was very intrigued… Here is an interesting review of the device which … Continue reading Ah, technology…

Trouble in paradise…?

For the past I-don’t-know-how-many years when one talked about sophisticated and popular electronics, one of the first companies you mentioned in that respect was Apple. But even the mighty Apple appears, at least of late, to be experiencing problems and this has translated to its stock recently losing ground.  What is the cause of these problems … Continue reading Trouble in paradise…?

Has Apple peaked?

I’ve commented before regarding articles about the slow-down in sales of desktop computers and, going hand-in-hand with this, the idea that desktop computers may be falling out of favor or *gasp* disappearing. I’ve noted that I don’t believe that to be the case.  There are plenty of professionals out there (me included) who absolutely need … Continue reading Has Apple peaked?

Back from the dead…?

So it would appear that the Commodore Computer brand isn’t entirely dead… Long Dead PC Company Commodore Just Launched a Smartphone I have fond memories of the old Commodore 64 computers, though by today’s standards these computers (indeed, all technological products from the 1980’s) are rightfully considered primitive. Yet during those very early days of … Continue reading Back from the dead…?
